Tustin is within reach from a number of recreational, cultural and entertainment offerings throughout Orange County. Residents looking to travel to San Diego, Riverside, or Los Angeles County are just minutes from the area's major freeways: the Santa Ana Freeway, also known as the Golden State Freeway or the I-5; the I-405 freeway; and the California 22, 55, and 73. Residents can visit many points of interest throughout the county, such as the Bowers Museum and Bowers Kidseum in Santa Ana, the Discovery Science Center located just off the I-5, local beaches, and even Disneyland!

If you're looking to spend the day outdoors, Tustin is the perfect place to do just that. The city offers about a dozen or so parks and open spaces, each offering their own set of amenities including sports fields, picnic shelters, playgrounds, amphitheatres, and trail access. The city's Parks & Recreation department, which maintains the city's many parks, also provides classes and community events throughout the year. A sampling of some of these events include the Tustin Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off, Tustin Tiller Days, Tustin Old Town Art Walk, wine tastings, farmer's markets, Dino Dash, and the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting.

Tustin's historic district—aptly named Old Town Tustin—is one of the more popular highlights of the city. It is here in Old Town where you can find some of the city's historic buildings, all which are located on El Camino Real and Main Street. Many of these buildings are dated as far back as the 1880s. The Tustin Area Historical Society and its museum can be found in Old Town, along with a variety of special shops and small businesses, restaurants, grocery stores and churches. Residents and visitors can take a short 2 mile walking tour through this great historic district and visit some local sites of interest, including the Stevens House, the Vance House, Tustin Presbyterian Church, Knights of Pythias Building, and the Hewes House, among others.
